Santa came!!

Hey everyone! Merry Christmas!!! I hope you all had a great holiday and got everything you wished for!!!!

My hubby gave me this shirt
http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/ladies/5981/ ....he is so cute! I wore it Christmas day! And him and K bought me a jewelry stand, a mini food chopper (to help me with my candy making), and K made me a potholder and foam snowman ornaments! My parents gave us $, and a bunch of stuff from our registry...baking pans and cookie sheets and cake pans, etc., and a Cuisinart blender/food processor!!!!! J got a bunch of tools from my parents too! His parents gave us a HUGE basket filled with pasta, olive oil, italian pastries, peppers, etc. His mom made us a bunch of ornaments for our tree, they gave me a nutcracker and a singing snowman scooby doo!!! My sis gave us a pasta set with bowls, etc. and an asian themed mirror. My friend Kimmy gave me a nutcracker and perfumes. K made out like a bandit, Santa brought her almost everything she wanted. It's funny, the things you think won't get a big reaction end up getting the biggest reaction! I bought her a beginner sewing machine and some fabric and she flipped out!!! When she talked to her mom that morning it was the first thing she told her that she got as a gift. Not the gameboy games or the polly pockets or the easy bake oven or even the hillary duff dvd! Go figure.

So, we all had a great holiday, ate too much and rushed around. K went with her mom yesterday and will be back Saturday evening.

A couple of my Aunts and cousins and my mom came over today for lunch and to see my house. I can't believe we've been here for almost 2 years now! We've done so much.....our bedroom and bathroom were totally redone because a pipe burst the night before we signed for our house (!). We've redone the main bathroom and also built a dormer in K's room and totally redid her room. We would like to redo her bathroom this year, it is so 1970's! Green and yellow, baby! A little at a time everyone says, it's all about having the dolla dolla bills y'all.

P.S.-I missed my cat Simba a lot over this past week, we still hung his stocking and it was very sad, I couldn't help but cry. I wish he was here still, 9 years wasn't long enough. :(

Cranberry Chutney

I just finished making my cranberry chutney for tomorrow's dinner at J's parents house, now all I have to do is make the candied sweet potatoes. I'm gonna do that in the morning though......cause it's time to put the presents under the tree!!!!! YEAY!!!!

Today was a good day, we cleaned the house up a bit, then went to J's parents house for Christmas Eve dinner. The kids get one present every year on Christmas eve and so did we! My neice and nephew made shirts for J and I with their handprints on them that said "World's Best Aunt" and "World's Best Uncle". They are cute! After that, we drove out to my parents house and hung up our stockings. My dad reads "The Night Before Christmas" every year to us, so we did that too! We came home, K put out milk and cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. This year she made Mrs. Claus a potholder because she felt bad that Mrs. Claus does so much and doesn't get anything! How cute is that? Then we put baby Jesus in the nativity and sang "Happy Birthday" and then she spread "Magic Reindeer Food" outside her window. Whew. Lots of traditions!!! Oh yeah, and we hung up our stockings and the cats stockings at home too! I hung Simba's even though he's not with us this year.....I miss him a lot and cried yesterday and today. 9 years is a long time but it wasn't long enough.

So, tomorrow we will do Christmas here, then go to my parents, then go to J's parents. Then K goes with her mom on Monday and she will be home Saturday evening....we are happy because we always had her for New Year's Eve and Day except for the last 2 years she has been with her mom. It worked out nice for us this year, we can't wait to have her hear again!

Ok, gotta get busy, Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!!!

I want to enjoy Christmas!!!

I feel like this happens every year.
I tell myself, "make cookies early and freeze them" and "shop for gifts early" and "wrap gifts by the 1st week of december"......but, I never listen! I have been baking and shopping like a crazy woman! I just finished making 5 dozen cookies, I think I've made over 30 dozen in all! Plus, I am making chocolate covered pretzels AND I still need to make my famous truffles!!!! ARGH!!!!

Thank goodness Josh and I at least wrapped some gifts last night, I am going to do some more right now. I went out shopping to buy a couple of small things today....that was a mistake!!! It was crazy! I hate last minute shopping.

All of this wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't so much going on. Friday night I helped out at my neice's school. It was "kids night", parents could drop off their kids for 3 hours so they could go shopping or whatever. J's mom asked if I would come and teach the kids to dance. So, I taught them the Macarena, Electric Slide, Cha Cha Slide, YMCA, and Chicken Dance. It was fun, the kids were cute (5-11 year olds)! But man, that was my exercise for the year! Then Saturday was J's work party, that was fun but we were tired so we didn't stay the whole time. Sunday we went to my parents house to help them decorate their tree and have dinner. My dads been working a lot, so they didn't get a chance to put up the tree yet! Today we had to go to my neice's Christmas concert. Tomorrow is K's girl scout Christmas party. Wednesday we are frosting our cut out sugar cookies and wrapping gifts. Thursday we are going to my friends house for dinner and to exchange gifts. Friday we are going to my uncles house because my grandma is coming up from Florida. Then Saturday is Christmas Eve and we are going to J's parents house for dinner and the kids get to open one gift. Then we have to go to my parents house and my dad reads "Twas the Night Before Christmas" to all of us.....it is tradition, he has done it since we were kids. When we lived away from home, he would read it over the phone....it's great! Then we hang our stockings!

I did finish my Christmas cards early though, AND I got my thank you cards done from our wedding!!!! Yeay me!!!

Oh, and if Lisa is reading this....you're welcome for the turkey joints!!! And, they haven't sold out here, you'll have to come home to get more!!!!! ;)

Out of the mouths of babes

So, my nephew(4 years old) was acting up this morning before he went to preschool.....running around and being a terror. J's mom couldn't get him to calm down. He goes into school and his teacher Miss Amy says "Good morning Z, how are you today?" My nephew replies "Nana says I'm being a terror today. So I'm gonna be a handful for you!"
;)
