27 Weeks

Your baby's growing steadily as she prepares for her grand entrance. This week she weighs almost 2 pounds and measures about 14 1/2 inches from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet. She's acting more like a newborn now, opening and closing her eyes, sleeping and waking at regular intervals, and maybe sucking a finger. She may also be hiccupping, which you'll notice as little rhythmic sensations in your belly. You may start to get leg cramps, especially when you're lying in bed at night. Stretching your calf and flexing your foot should bring some relief.

So, just got sick...again. I have come to terms with the fact that this will more than likely go on until the end. Boy oh boy, little one, you better grow up to take good care of your mommy!

Had a doctor appointment on Wednesday. K and J Poo got to go with me, K had a half day of school. Talked to the doctor about me getting sick, again. She said unfortunately it sounds like I will be one of the few that goes thru this for the duration....yeay. Checked my weight, J and I made a bet beforehand. He thought I gained another 8 pounds and I said 5. Well, I LOST 1 pound!!!! Go figure?! The doctor said it was ok and not to worry about it, but later that night I cried because I feel like I'm doing something wrong now! J told me not to worry, baby is fine, doctor said it was fine, I've just been sick that's all. SO, total so far I've gained 14 pounds. I have 13 weeks to go!

I also told the doctor that I had pain on my right side again, and couldn't tell if it was the baby or not. She said that since this is the third time, she wants me to have an abdominal ultrasound to check my gallbladder. If there are stones or "sludge" then I will have to go on a bland lowfat diet until the baby is born, and then have my gallbladder out about 10 weeks later! UGH! So, cross your fingers that it's nothing. When she said that J asked "well, since they will be there scanning her belly, can they swing down and tell us if it's a boy or a girl?" She said she would order another sonogram for us, but she had to have a reason for the insurance company. Well, she measured my belly and I measure a week behind, so she said that is reason enough to check on the baby! Next Friday J, K and I go in for another baby sonogram, and then right after they will do my abdomen. J and K got all excited, I think they want to know what the baby is more than I do at this point!

I also have to go for bloodwork next week, to test for gestational diabetis. Fun fun fun! I have to fast, then have my blood drawn, then drink some nasty drink that the doctor described as flat sugary soda, then wait an hour and have more bloodwork. Us women have sooo much fun! Any of you ladies out there thinking about having kids that have not yet, please don't let me scare you! Everyone is different, I'm just sharing my stories!

White Tigers

This is K's soccer team (there are a few girls missing). They call themselves the White Tigers. She is the tallest one in the back row! Her cousin is the shortest one in the front. Don't they look like sisters? K is her teams goalie, their last game is this Sunday and they've only lost one game this year! They finally understand how to work together and communicate. She is so fearless this year, she jumps right on the ball and tumbles to the ground all the time!

26 Weeks and more

Your baby now weighs a little under 2 pounds and measures about 14 inches, from head to heel. The nerve pathways in her ears are developing, which means her response to sounds is growing more consistent. Her lungs are developing now, too, as she continues to take small breaths of amniotic fluid — good practice for when she's born and takes that first breath of air.

I'm still not feeling that great in the mornings, well, and throughout the day I guess. But, it makes me laugh when I lay down and see my stomach jumping! This kid is having a lot of fun in there, dancing the night away! I tried to go to bed early last night but it is getting hard to get comfy, and here I am up at 6am because I'm hungry and just can't sleep anymore. Oh well, preparing me for what's to come I guess.

Yesterday I went to return a shirt from my sis for my b-day, she got it at Old Navy. I hadn't been in there yet looking for maternity clothes and a lot of people keep telling me that they have a lot of nice stuff. So, I took my time and tried on a bunch of things. K and I are going to Miami next month with J poo for a week so I figure I better get some tank tops and such. Found quite a few things actually, all on sale or clearance! The one thing I ended up buying that almost made me cry was....dum dum dum!.....a bathing suit. UGH! It's bad enough for a woman to have to try on bathing suits, but when she is pregnant it's even worse. Oh well, I'm getting to the point that I don't even care what I look like, as long as I'm comfy! I also found some cute things for K, I hope they fit her. The best find of the day was a tank top that says "BIG SIS" on it! She is getting more excited about the baby now, she rubs my belly and kisses it......awwww!

Speaking of K, she is having a really hard time right now with her mom and stepdad. I'm not going to say too much right now, but after Thursday I will let you know what is going on. Let's just say J and I have decided to step in, enough is enough. K has had enough and has been treated badly for the last time, she had a weekend from hell with them and that was the last straw. We have all talked to her counselor, and have called her law guardian and our lawyer. You can guess what's going to happen next...

My parents are leaving for California on Saturday with my sis and her hubby and a bunch of my aunts and uncles. They all decided to rent motorcycles and tour around out there for a week! How awesome is that? So happy for them, they need a vacation! My mom's b-day was Sunday, we all surprised her with lasagna (made by my Grandma!) and cake on Saturday at my uncles house, then J poo and I stopped by Sunday with her presents. We also gave my dad his father's day gifts because they will be gone! We got each of them a picture frame that says I love my Grandma and I love my Grandpa!

J and I went to Babies R Us on Sunday and picked out the theme and bedding for the baby's room! Here is a link to show you what we got:

We bought the bedding set, valences for the windows, the wall hangings, the rug, the mobile, and the wallpaper border. How cute is this???!!! We didn't see the hamper there, and would have liked to get everything, but then we would have to claim bankruptcy!

25 Weeks

Your baby weighs about a pound and a half and is around 13 and a half inches long. She has more hair on her head, and if you could see it you'd know what color and texture it is. Your 'do may be fuller, too, thanks to pregnancy hormones. Some women notice more or darker body hair as well. It'll return to normal after you deliver. You're getting bigger by the minute, but that's no reason to stop exercising — just modify your routine as your body changes.

I can't believe I only have 15 weeks to go! I have gotten bigger, and am getting bigger everyday now. The baby is a movin and a groovin! The one thing I do have to say is:

Dear child of mine,
Please, please, please stop making me sick!
Love,
Mommy

Yes, I am getting sick in the morning again. I only had 6 weeks, I need more time! BLAH!

My grandma is in town visiting from Florida, she got here Memorial Day weekend and is going to stay until September! Yeay! I hope she is here when the baby is born!

Where to begin?

Well, I had a doctor's appointment on the 24th and everything is fine and dandy! J got to go this time, heard the heartbeat again! I have gained (gulp!) a total of 15 pounds so far! Gasp! I know, I know, it's because of the baby, but it's hard for a woman to hear that she's gained that much weight in 23 weeks. Baby is fine, weight is fine, size is fine....we are right on track! We also signed up for Lamaz classes, and those start at the end of July every Tuesday night at the hospital for 6 weeks. I have no idea what to expect, this whole thing is so surreal to me sometimes. The baby is very active, and J finally felt the baby on the 27th! It was right around noontime, and it was funny because the baby kicked so hard that I saw J's hand move!

My nephew Z had to recite "Jack and Jill" at his preschool last week and might I say he did an awesome job! It was so cute, he was all dressed up and held a pail in his hand. All of the kids did great, but of course I think he did the best!!

K's mom is still being a you know what. She hasn't come to get her for a month and a half now. I don't even want to get into the story, it is too long and too disheartening. I feel so bad for this kid, her mom puts her last constantly. Sometimes I wonder if she will ever get over this or get past all of this. We can only do so much, unfortunately what she needs she will never get.

So, we had a hell of a weekend. Friday night J and my dad were working upstairs on K's bathroom. Well, they had to rip up the floor because the boards were rotted, so they were walking on the floor joists until they finished the plumbing and could put new boards down. Unfortulately, J slipped and put his foot/leg right thru our bathroom ceiling below. I thought someone had fallen right thru it was so loud! He is ok, just scratched up a bit and very bruised on his left leg. So, I joke around and say we have a skylight in our bathroom now! On top of that my dad came back Saturday morning to help finish the plumbing/floor. Well, about half an hour after they started they both came down and J said "Don't get mad" and I started to think ok, what pipe busted? Then my dad says "He needs to go to Urgent Care and get stitches". Well, I was like OMG! What happened? J was drilling a 4 inch hole thru a board and the drill jumped and cut thru his right wrist. He wouldn't even move the cloth to show me. So, off we went to urgent care. Waited an hour, and he finally showed me. OMG, gross.....it was so deep you could see his tendons! I almost threw up. He is soooo lucky it didn't cut his artery. He got 5 stitches, 3 of them were called matrix stitches, so that he would be able to move his arm better and not rip them out. I don't know how they were able to stitch it closed, it had to be cut open about an inch or more wide. So, we went back to the house and they worked on the bathroom, slowly, until about 5pm and then that was it. No more working on the upstairs until J is healed and rested!!!!!

Sunday we went to a picnic because our friend Sam came home to visit, he moved to DC. He was in our wedding. It was nice to see everyone again, a lot of the girls are either pregnant or have just had babies so it was cute!

Monday we went to a picnic at my uncle's house, because my grandma just got in from Florida to visit everyone! She will be here for a few months. Just as we got to the picnic, J's mom called and said that his dad had fallen and she couldn't get him up, so he had to drive back and help. His dad is ok, scratched his arms up a little bit but will be fine.

The heat at the beginning of the week really kicked my butt! I was very tired Tuesday and Wednesday, so I took it easy. I am getting wicked leg cramps too now, they wake me up in the middle of the night and hurt so bad! The doctor told me to try calcium pills, so we will see.

Tomorrow we are driving out to Conneticut/Massachusetts because my neice is in her school choir and they have a competition out there. Last year they won! Well, I guess they go and sing in Conneticut, and then cross over to Springfield MA to Six Flags Amusement Park, have lunch and enjoy the park, then at 5PM they have the judging and give out awards. Unfortunately, it is supposed to rain all day out there tomorrow, so I don't know how much the kids will be able to do. It stinks.

I think that's it, for now!

23 and 24 Weeks

Boy, am I behind with my posts! Sorry people!

23 Weeks
Your baby is more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound. His skin is red and wrinkled. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare him for breathing. He can swallow, but he normally won't pass his first stool (called meconium) until after birth. Loud noises heard often in utero — such as your dog barking or the roar of a vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze your baby when he hears them outside the womb.

24 Weeks
Your baby's growing steadily, gaining about a quarter of a pound since last week, when she was just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long, that makes a pretty lean figure, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon put on more baby fat. Your baby's skin is thin, translucent, and wrinkled, her brain is growing rapidly, and her taste buds are developing. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" and cells that produce surfactant, a substance that helps the air sacs inflate easily.
